Szańce wojskowe usytuowane są na terenie całego miasta. W przeszłości stanowiły element obronny Twierdzy Kraków. Zarówno budowa geologiczna jak i położenie zadecydowały o tym, że jeden z nich powstał na obszarze Zakrzówka. FS-29 Zakrzówek to szaniec polowy, siedmioboczny będący elementem fortyfikacji austriackich z lat 1850-1918.
