Dzięki kładce, na której się znajdujesz w 2010 roku Podgórze i Kazimierz zyskał nowe połączenie pieszo-rowerowe przez Wisłę w miejscu dawnego mostu Podgórskiego. Patronem kładki jest Ojciec Bernatka – zakonnik, który doprowadził do budowy Szpitala Bonifratów. Kładka została zbudowana na brzegu Bulwaru Kurlandzkiego i dopiero po przygotowaniu całej konstrukcji osadzona w obecnym miejscu za pomocą barek i dźwigów. Otrzymała liczne nagrody, w tym pierwsze miejsce w kategorii „kładki dla pieszych” w prestiżowym Konkursie Mostowym im. Wolfa. Podobnie jak liczne tego typu budowle na świecie stała się miejscem zakochanych o czym świadczą liczne kłódki z wygrawerowanymi imionami.

Thanks to the footbridge, on which you are located, Podgórze and Kazimierz districts gained a new pedestrian and bicycle connection across the Vistula River in place of the former Podgórze Bridge. The patron of the footbridge is Father Bernatek, a monk who led to the construction of the Hospital of the Brothers Hospitallers. The bridge was built on the shore of the Kurlandzki Boulevard and only after the whole construction had been prepared, it was set in its present location using barges and cranes. Father Bernatek Footbridge received numerous awards, including first place in the category footbridges in the prestigious ‘Konkurs Mostowy im. Maksymiliana Wolffa’. Like many other buildings of this type in the world, it has also become a place for lovers, as numerous padlocks with engraved names are attatched to the bridge.
