Położony w sąsiedztwie Plant Nowackiego Bulwar Podolski stanowi oazę zieleni w centrum miasta. We wschodniej części bulwaru znajdował się port wraz z magazynem solnym. Pod koniec XVI wieku prawie jedną trzecią soli sprzedawanej w Polsce spławiano Wisłą. Dlatego położenie portu w centrum miasta, w niewielkiej odległości od Wieliczki było strategiczne.

Located near Planty Nowackiego, the Podolski Boulevard constitutes an oasis of greenery in the city centre. In the eastern part of the boulevard, there was a port with a salt warehouse. At the end of the 16th century, almost one-third of the salt sold in Poland was floated down the Vistula. Therefore, the location of the port in the city centre, not far from Wieliczka, was strategic.
